Nepali PM to attend NAM summit in Egypt www.chinaview.cn 2009-07-11 11:22:25 KATHMANDU, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal is flying to Egypt on July 14, leading a Nepali delegation to attend the 15th summit of heads of states and governments of the Non-Aligned nations to be held in Sharm El Sheikh on July 15-16, local media reported on Saturday. This would be his first international meeting after he assumed his office last May. According to The Himalayan Times, Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala will join the Nepali delegation in Egypt as she had left for Portugal on July 9 to take part at a ministerial level conference of comity of democracies slated for July 11-12 in London. Koirala will lead the Nepali delegation to the ministerial level meeting of the Non-Aligned nations on July 13-14. Likewise, foreign secretary Gyan Chandra Acharya will lead the delegation to participate in the meeting at secretarial level on July 11-12. The delegation will return to Kathmandu on July 18, according to the foreign ministry. A high level Indian delegation led by Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Water Resources, Pawan Kumar Bansal, arrived in Kathmandu for a two-day visit. Minister for Irrigation Bal Krishna Khand received the 10-member Indian delegation at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Apart from holding formal talks with minister Khand on flood control and reconstruction of the Koshi barrage, among other issues, Bansal will visit Morang district to inspect the reconstruction works at the Koshi barrage.
